How these evenings run
The shape of a Open Ground programme.
A host runs the structure and the crew runs the activities. Whichever format you choose from this category, the four stages below are the same.
-
Everything is built and tested before the first guest arrives, so the site is never a work in progress.
-
Activity points open together and stay staffed for the whole programme, so there is no queue.
-
A mid-programme gathering holds the group together: a short address, a group photograph.
-
The closing block collects the group back to one point before the crew clears the site.
Venue
What a venue needs for this category.
Individual formats add their own requirements, listed with each one above. These four apply across Open Ground.
- a level site of at least 600 m2, or a hall of 200 m2 in bad weather
- vehicle access to within 30 m of the activity points
- a 16 A outdoor-rated supply, or confirmation that we bring a generator
- a wet-weather alternative agreed in writing at least 10 days before the date
Set-up takes up to 3 hours before the event, pack-down 1-2 hours after. Neither counts towards the programme hours.
Who these programmes are for
Adult guests, on site, nothing to win.
Every programme in this category is written and run for adult guests, in a venue you choose. Scoring exists in some formats; the prize is a printed certificate and the host reading out the result. There are no stakes, no cash prizes and nothing exchangeable for money, goods or vouchers. Where a programme includes casino-style tables, participation in those activities is for guests aged 20+ and the chips are props that are never sold or topped up.
Questions
Questions about Open Ground.
What happens if it rains?
We agree the wet-weather alternative in writing at least 10 days before the date: either a hall of the stated size or a marquee with the same activity points. The decision point and who makes the call are in the contract, so nobody is improvising on the morning.
Is there power on an open site?
Either yours or ours. Each format states the supply it needs; if the site has none, we bring a generator and list it as a separate line in the quote.
Are these programmes for families?
No. All our programmes are written and run for adult guests. We do not run activities for children and no programme in the catalogue includes minors.
Ask about a date in Open Ground.
An enquiry does not reserve a date. We check whether we are free, agree the package and send it to you in writing.
